Thanks Yahoo!

Wow! Yahoo!’s been fighting against NSA surveillance orders for years! Thought this would be strictly a Google “No Evil” sort of thing. It’s good to see Yahoo! standing up for the right thing to do and it should make all the Tumblr users feel better (well, maybe).

There are certainly consequences for disobeying illegal government requests. When the Qwest CEO refused NSA Surveillance Requests, he ended up in a federal prison camp. No doubt, it took courage for Yahoo! to fight back, let’s just hope their motive behind it was privacy of their users and not something more sinister like negotiating a better price for their user data.
